EXCEPTIONAL PORTUGUESE WINE
Casa de Sabicos wines are mostly based on traditional grape varieties grown in the Family's vineyards. They are the result of the joint fermentation of the grape varieties (field blends), which is also traditional winemaking. As a result, we have wines with a strong character and identity, with the characteristics of each grape variety exceptionally balanced.
The grape varieties used in Casa de Sabicos wines mix traditional and international varieties more commonly used in Alentejo wines. The primary red grapes include Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Alfrocheiro, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Caiada, with a small Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah production. The main white grape varieties are Arinto, Antão Vaz, Fernão Pires, and Chardonnay.
The labels are created from the original watercolors of the producer.
Some wines age in French or Portuguese oak barrels (from 6 to 18 months), followed by a variable aging time in a bottle in a chamber with a controlled constant temperature.
A few Casa de Sabicos wines are produced in small quantities and only in years of exceptional maturation. One such wine is 'Avó Sabica', so far launched in only three production years: 2004, 2011, and 2013 (currently in the market), or 'Joaquim Madeira' red, a signature wine only produced in 2004, 2007, and 2011.
Joaquim Madeira, Avó Sabica’s great-grandson, was the person behind the vine planting and also the creator of Casa de Sabicos's traditional wines. His extensive experience in viticulture and winemaking is still reflected in the unique and outstanding characteristics of the Casa de Sabicos wines.
Strict control levels are maintained throughout the winemaking process, and the wisdom accumulated over the years contributes to the production of unique and high-quality Alentejo wines, making Casa de Sabicos a brand that represents the exceptional wines of Portugal.
